Our Rehoming Process
We understand that there are many reasons why you may be unable to keep your dachshund and that it is a very difficult decision for you to make.
If you’re unsure and just want to talk it over and see if there are solutions, then please message us. One of our friendly team members will speak with you and talk through the problems that you may be experiencing with your dachshund(s).
Please note:
- Dachshund puppy connect does not charge a rehoming fee or pay to buy dachshunds that require rehoming. We do charge an adoption fee to the new owners. This is to ensure that the right people come forward for your dachshund.
- Dachshunds are a financial commitment and we want all dachshunds to be valued family members. Adoption fees go towards veterinary care that some dachshunds require when they are rehomed, such as vaccinations, medications, de sexing, dentals and many other such operations and incidentals.
- Enquiries are responded to on the same day. If your situation is urgent and you need immediate help then please call us.
Steps to Rehoming Your Dog Rehoming
- 1. Contact – Please complete our Rehoming Enquiry Form or call us to discuss.
- 2. Review – Your form will be reviewed and a member of our Rehoming Team will contact you to discuss. If following discussions it is decided that rehoming is best for your dachshund, a rehoming form is completed to continue the process.
- 3. Rehoming – Once our team have found potentially suitable home(s) for your dachshund(s), we will discuss the option(s) with you. You will then be given the ability to speak with the prospective owners and organise a meet and greet with whom you feel most comfortable. Please note: If your rehoming situation is urgent, a foster carer could be arranged to collect your dachshund.
- 4. Trial – After a successful meet and greet, a trial will be arranged. During this period, we will keep in touch with you to provide regular updates. If the new home has proved to be the perfect fit, the rehoming will be finalised and microchip transferred.
